Tallers Sonors#20: El Taller Sonor de Suma

Conocer personalmente a Frank Rudow hace unas semanas ha sido como dar con una de las piezas centrales del puzzle del indie español. Hemos encontrado anécdotas hasta debajo de las piedras que emparentan al músico y productor de orígen alemán con buena parte de los grupos de música independiente surgidos en los últimos 15 años del territorio estatal.

Por ejemplo, desde que ha dejado Asturias, habiendo participado en formaciones como Manta Ray, Rudow ha ejercido de productor de Bedroom, proyecto musical de Albert Aromir al que también nos hemos acercado en Tallers Sonors. A Asturias llegó a mediados de los noventa durante una gira con su amigo Paul Rose, hoy uno de los integrantes de Institut FATIMA, otro grupo que también está en Tallers Sonors.

Más personal, casero e íntimo es el grupo Suma, que Frank ha formado junto a su compañera Laura Clark. Frank y Laura trabajan en su música en su piso del Poble Sec, en Barcelona. Allí componen las bases musicales y graban. Sus canciones se completan durante fuera de la ciudad, en Leipzig, El puerto de Santa María o una casa rural en el Pirineo. Son momentos en que Laura pule letras y terminan de grabarse algunas pistas.

El primer disco del grupo, "In the middle of somewhere" (Foehn, 2009) está basado en la experiencia personal de los músicos durante los dos primeros años de vida de Suma. Su segundo disco está siendo compuesto en la actualidad.

Suma interpreta para Tallers Sonors una canción inédita, además de su carismático "Don't kid anyone", de su primer disco.

El programa se estrena el Jueves 20 de Mayo en Escenaris. El lunes 24 estará en Xip/tv.
